This piece is made up of found sticks, branches, moss, lichens, rocks, walnuts, peanut shells, bricks, and leaves, all sourced within 20 ft. of its exhibition. Weathered responds to the practice of place-based work, creating a form that meditates on the bits of earth that make up the space we occupy. In response to the show title "Vigil_" and the outdoor venue, I wanted to create something that naturally weathers with time regardless of one's vigilance. Evoking ideas of inevitable decay, place, and meditation on the natural objects that surround us.
